Final Fantasy Tactics Bestiary

Overview | Data | Primer

From Final Fantasy's famous avian mascot to the hapless creatures served up for slaughter in traditional FF battles, monsters now may fight alongside humans as allies in Final Fantasy Tactics. After they are invited into the party, they may be controlled in subsequent battles like human units.

There are a total of forty-eight monsters--consisting of humanoids, beasts, and others that defy classification--divided among sixteen distinct classes, or types. Occasionally, monsters in the party will lay eggs (which take up spaces in the party roster) that will yield offspring related to their parent's class. For example, a Behemoth in the party may give rise to King Behemoths and Dark Behemoths if given enough time. (In fact, the only way to acquire a Wildbow is for a Uribo or Porky to lay an egg that will yield a Wildbow.)

Select one of the following sixteen classes to find out more information. (The italicized descriptions are from the game. For an explanation about how the information is presented, consult the primer):

Chocobo
Chocobo class
Enormous bird. Cannot fly since its wings have degenerated. Bred for transportation due to its high running power. (Human units may ride Chocobos in battle.)

Goblin
Goblin class
Small demon with big ears and an upturned nose. Small body but quite strong.
